Celebration of the Declaration of Venerable Mary Glowrey

The Guntur Province of the Congregation of Jesus Mary Joseph joyfully celebrated the historic Declaration of Venerable Mary Glowrey on 11th February 2026 at St. Joseph’s Convent, Guntur. The day was marked by prayer, gratitude, unity, and renewed missionary commitment.

The celebration began with a prayerful Morning Service, highlighted by an inspiring enactment depicting the missionary zeal and virtues of Venerable Mary Glowrey. The campus was beautifully arranged with scenes from her life, creating a reflective and spiritual atmosphere. The Memorial Prayer Hall and Museums offered participants a deeper understanding of her life and the Congregation’s heritage.

The evening programme commenced with a blessing at the Memorial Prayer Hall led by Archbishop Udumala Bala, followed by a grand procession with students, sisters, clergy, and guests. Over 300 JMJ Sisters gathered, witnessing unity and joy within the Congregation.

The Holy Eucharist, celebrated by Archbishop Udumala Bala with Bishop Bhagyaiah’s introduction, formed the spiritual center of the day. The liturgy was deeply prayerful, offering thanksgiving for Mary Glowrey’s life and recognition as Venerable.

The Felicitation Programme honored distinguished bishops, and the biography of Venerable Mary Glowrey was officially released. The Postulator, Fr. Cherian Thunduparampil, solemnly read the decree declaring her as Venerable, received with reverence and joy. Gratitude was expressed to all who contributed to this milestone.

Australian guests and family members of Mary Glowrey shared reflections, strengthening international bonds. A cultural programme featuring a documentary and dance performances beautifully portrayed her life and mission.
